Olympus Mons is the tallest mountain and largest volcano known anywhere — about 22 km high and roughly as wide as France. It is a gently sloped shield volcano crowned by a complex summit caldera and ringed by an outward-facing cliff up to eight kilometres tall.
There is essentially no accessible water here. This is high, young, dry volcanic terrain — the most resource-poor ground in the entire catalogue.
